Overview (Scope of Role)

The Cost Accounting Technical Specialist will be part of the CBPC team, so the Cost Business Process Center team. This team currently has team members in the GBS in Dublin and one employee in Shanghai. The CBPC team supports cost center management (including TCCM application management support), the budgeting process, the product costing estimate process, intercompany services billings, manufacturing orders and variances, and various other cost accounting and fixed assets-related system support & job monitoring.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide NAA support for SAP GRIR processes including: weekly review of purchase order imbalances, analysis of items exceeding defined aging thresholds, and clearing of open items.
  • Serve as NAA Cost Accounting process SME providing support to local Cost Accountants as needed.
  • Act as subject matter expert for various cost accounting processes with focus on technical behavior- includes production analysis, material ledger, and maintenance orders, etc.
  • Execute critical month-end close assignments, such as recording timely cost accounting transactions; preparing supporting schedules and account reconciliations; and ensuring liabilities are adequately reflected in the period.
  • Perform SOX-related requirements timely. Own sign off of ECC GRIR SOX controls and Material Ledger SOX controls monthly as well as other controls as needed
  • Provide local input requirements into global work process designs and ensure work processes are documented and kept up to date.
  • Execute and monitor month end job processes for financial close in SAP ECC & S/4 Hana environments including those such as production order WIP & Variance, Material Ledger Close, cost center allocations, project settlements, and goods in transit reporting.
  • Participate in and/or lead special (ad hoc) projects, audits, etc as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting (or local equivalent)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a multinational manufacturing company, preferred
  • Previous accounting and/or operational finance experience in industrial chemicals and publicly traded companies preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with SAP environments, S/4 HANA, including Material Ledger, a plus 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage various levels of management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate leadership skills capable of inspiring and influencing others
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly, a plus
  • Ability to create and modify macros, scripts, and databases is a plus
