Overview (Scope of Role)

The Supply Chain Planning Specialist will decide “what to make”, “when to make it” and “where to make it” for the Midland production site, within the Latex Binders business. This includes balancing raw materials supply and customer demand over a daily or monthly planning horizon, to achieve optimum product availability, asset utilization and supply chain efficiencies. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, decide, communicate and implement operational schedules and tactical plans.
  • Creation and continuous monitoring of production plans.
  • Maintain and execute production planning within SAP (maintain material masters, work centers, routings; review MRP exceptions; create supplier purchase orders as well as production orders). 
  • Operate regional planning models (provide functional expertise for model operation; assure most efficient use of information technology).
  • Daily coordination with the business, site logistics and external suppliers to ensure demand and delivery as well as related safety regulations.
  • Creation of supply and demand analysis to optimize the production planning process.
  • Build scenarios of production and supply chain capabilities and limitations.
  • Participate on the Sales & Operations Planning Teams and Meetings.
  • Monitor actual performance versus plan and engage cross-functional efforts to resolve. 
  • Where applicable, execute exchange, swap and toll agreements.
  • Support global supply chain initiatives by interfacing with other supply chain personnel in the business and third-party service providers.
  • Execute the most effective regional or global sourcing rules.

Qualifications

  • College degree in a discipline demonstrating logical thinking or computational skills (Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Mathematics and certain sciences)
  • 5+ years in Manufacturing or Supply Chain operations required.
  • Production and raw materials stock planning in chemical and/or plastic business is an advantage.
  • Experience in Purchasing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Logistics is a plus.
  • Technical proficiency in the use of multiple computer applications (SAP, Excel) and sound analytical skills are necessary.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English.
  • A Background in a multinational/international company is a plus.
  • Must be able to work with and collaborate with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Competencies required for success are Interpersonal Effectiveness, Proactiveness, Accountability and Teamwork.
  • Communication skills to effectively collaborate with external business and internal cross-functional partners.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to apply logical thinking and computational skills; sound analytical skills are a must to make timely decisions.
