Role Overview (Scope of Role)

 

The Utility Relief Operator performs the manufacturing, packaging and shipping of acrylic resin and sheet. 

This position is located in Louisville, KY and reports to the Shift Supervisor. Entry pay rate is $24.52 per hour. Must be flexible with work shift as business can alternate between 12-hour and 8-hour shifts, depending on volume.  Must be able to work nights, holidays, weekends and overtime as required. 

Responsibilities

  • Operation and troubleshooting of chemical process and process equipment.
  • Follow safe work procedures in the formulation, production, testing and packaging of acrylic resin and sheet.
  • Control and monitor systems (DCS, historical data, SAP, email, Warehouse Management).
  • Operate PLCs, forklifts, extruders, reactors, grinders, saws, banders and other equipment as required. 
  • Perform manual tasks associated with maintaining operations on each of the production lines.
  • Perform process startups, shutdowns and turnarounds.
  • Follow documented process procedures and properly complete required paperwork.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of work areas.
  • Issue safe work permits and work notifications.
  • Print product labels and maintain warehouse storage.
  • Ship and receive product, raw materials, maintenance items and other plant deliveries. 
  • Relay pertinent process information to co-workers and supervisor.
  • Assist in emergency operations as needed.
  • Participate in PHAs and JSAs as needed.
  • Train other operators requiring qualification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required. Secondary education with an emphasis in a mechanical or technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a process industry or other related manufacturing type work or 2 years chemical plant production work experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; both to carry and to lift overhead.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator as required.
  • Basic computer operation skills, basic knowledge of process control systems and forklift operation desired.
